Re: working on any original writing lately f!s?

Me too. I have notebooks and folders of about 5 novels-worth of ideas. Character notes, plot points, research, maps, worldbuilding notes, timelines etc. Detailed chapter plans even.

Then I try to write the actual words and I get to about chapter 6 and burn out each time. I can see the rest of the story in my head but the writing won't come.

Meanwhile, I have another urgent idea for the next two or three stories.

My strategy now is just to get down as many notes as possible. I'm hoping that one day in the future, my ideas will magically dry up, while my writing will come more easily, perhaps with practice, and I'll be glad for my idea notebooks.

My other way of working through the problem is to gradually practice finishing short stories, and to slowly increase their wordcount. The main problem with this is that I only really like nice long novels, both to read and to write. Unfortunately my writing powers don't yet match up to that.
