I always had this feeling that GRRM was inserting himself into book!Tyrion, and... yeah, it shows, and not in a good way.

I think he has sort of openly admitted it. At least in the show I can see Tyrion as Tyrion, not as GRRM in the Dungeons and Dragons universe...

Well, that certainly explains a lot.

Also, yes. Yes to all of that. It's nice to like show!Tyrion without having to wonder which parts are the actual character talking and which parts are just GRRM's id running wild.
