And yeah, I really only change the litterboxes once a week and they're not stinky even then. Cat boxes, if I leave them for more than a day, they reek - my girlfriend used to leave them for a week and I was just DYING from the stench. :P When I heard someone say rabbits stink, I was like "wtf, what kind of pets have YOU had?" But ohhh boy are you dead on about the shedding. I have taken pics of my buns next to a pile of their own fur as big as they are. XD
I've got four at the moment, which is kind of hilarious, because my first bun was an only bun. Then after he died, I adopted two brothers. Then I thought to get another pair after they were gone, and wound up with three sisters. They were already pretty old and special needs pets, because they'd been so horribly abused when they were babies, so I didn't have long with them... And since then, gradually I and people I know have happened to come across rabbits that need homes, so now I have four. This is a slightly disturbing trend...
Bear and Jasmine are a bonded pair, and they get to run free in my room (except when Bear is feeling naughty - he climbs from my bed onto the shelves and throws things off, presumably just because he can - at which point I have to confine them till he calms down). Pepper is a little firecracker, and can't roam free unattended except in very well bunnyproofed areas, so she lives in a large cage made of those cube storage unit things, and I let her run in the currently vacant bedroom - with the door closed, because she recently figured out she can jump the baby gates. Dusty is an escape artist as well as a big nibbler, so he can't be left to run unattended at all, and he stays in the HUGE cage I built for the three sisters (since he is about as big as all three of them put together). I let him run around the living room though, since I spend most of my time there these days and can keep an eye on him.
And I was worried about cats and rabbits too, but I had a rabbit and my friend had cats when we were going to move in together, so we tried to introduce them... and the cat was terrified of the rabbit. Who was the sweetest little thing, he reminded me of a perpetually awkward and clumsy puppy - but when one cat tried to drink his water, he wound up chasing the cat out of the room with teeth bared. It was HILARIOUS. And then my girlfriend moved out here and she's a cat person, and that same rabbit became best friends with one of the two cats we adopted. Since then, we've adopted a few more of each, and mostly everyone gets along, except for the couple of cats who are scared to death of the rabbits. XD
