i for one am glad about this eyebrow-obsession because i've always had ridiculously expressive eyebrows

also some people's eyebrows are masterpieces. i mean, have you looked at lena headey's face recently? those eyebrows deserve at least one emmy.

Bowties. I don't care if nobody should have to justify a bowtie, I am requesting that someone do so because I do not understand. But all I can ever get out of people regarding why is "nobody should have to justify a bowtie".

People wear bowties for the same reason people get facial piercings and dye their hair bright colours -- to stand out. As a bonus, bowties are easily changed.

At least, I can see that being the justification five years ago, before they were so popular. And even with popularity I still don't see them on the street that often

I don't really know, but I can say that, in formal settings, bowties look really sharp.

My company's annual meeting last year was at a venue that required formal attire, and let me tell you, the gents with the bowties looked better than the gents with the regular ties.

There was always appreciation for bow ties, but the obsession, in recent years, I put all the fucking blame on Doctor Who, Eleven.

The "You are my sunshine" song things. I've seen gifs and picture sets of characters getting injured or killed with they lyrics on them and several fanfics where a character is dying and another one sings it to them, from multiple fandoms.

I just I've seen this kind of thing before and was kinda clever and bittersweet the first few times, but why is this so prolific now? It's just cheezy now. Did it appear in something recently and get popular? Or am I just in parts of fandom where it's coincidentally repeating.

The original was a Pokémon one that EXPLODED in notes, so I'm guessing everything else was just an imitation to ride on that trend.

Haven't seen anything else but the Pokémon, though.

I think the eyebrow thing is because there's a few actors and/or characters with eyebrows people notice. Often it's actors with dark eyebrows playing blond characters and people think the eyebrows look wrong.

I know I still find Thranduil's eyebrows disconcerting, but a photo of Lee Pace when he's not in a blond wig? They suit him.
