I feel this way too. People say that Maleficent being evil for evil's sake is what made her so great,

I was actually wanting to make secret like that because I KEEP SEEING THIS EVERYWHERE LATELY esp on tumblr.

No it's not making her badass. It's making her lazily-written.

Yeah, I've seen that too and have no clue why tumblr thinks it's so great. A female character doing bad stuff just because the plot needs her to is a boring character, not an empowered one.

She doesn't seem to do much besides 'be evil' yet the kingdom is perfectly fine-- shit, they either forgot about her or thought they could get away with not inviting her to the party, and then she threatened a baby. So she's written just...to be the villain
