Re: Sleep study

Yes, several. They wired me up - this takes ages, and it took even longer to get the goo out of my hair afterwards. Then they left me to read until I felt sleepy, at which point I buzzed them and they came in and connected the wires to the monitors. Then they left me to settle down. There's usually one or two technicians who stay up all night in another room - one is better, two tend to talk and might need to be told to shut up! If you get tangled, there's a buzzer you can press to get them to come and untangle you. Same goes for toilet breaks.

It's a really useful thing to have done. I've been given printouts of my sleep patterns, which are interesting and reassuring; for instance I slept much longer than I thought I did, even though I didn't get much deep sleep. Problems are generally easy to diagnose from the printouts, and are usually easily dealt with, even for people like me who have a whole slew of them. After dealing with the problems, sleep is much easier and more refreshing. It is all so worth it.

Good luck, and please let us know how you get on!
