GRRM and his rape and incest fetishes is projecting creepily into him in the books, I prefer the show's 1000x times

I do like how charming he is and Dinklage is great, but he's still much, much blander. His dark character turn in ADWD makes sense when you consider all he's been through and it's interesting to see how reversed his and Jaime's moral positions are now.

I really enjoy how he's becoming like a bit more like his father. No matter what he says or does, he's his father's son and his character is just proving that.

I'm sure he also gets off on castrated man-slaves given he wrote that too, right?

(Anonymous) 2014-04-22 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
you do know tyrion is based specifically on grrm's d&d character, right? he talks all the time about how much of himself is in tyrion's thoughts and actions, but curiously doesn't afford grey worm and the others the same

(Anonymous) 2014-04-22 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
Referring to Reek.

Also he's not 'specifically based' off of GRRM. On the contrary, GRRM has said Sam is the most like him.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-22 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Physically, yeah. But he projects hardcore onto Tyrion.

I'm just getting to theon's adwd chapters now in my read, so I took it to reference the unsullied

(Anonymous) 2014-04-22 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
They're his fucking books, his fucking characters. He can do what he wants.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-22 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Doesn't give him a free-pass from criticism (or in this case, being accused of having creepy pedo fetishes) though.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-22 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Crticism sure. But making horrible assumptions about him as a person isn't criticism, it's being an asshole.
For everything he's said and done to his fictional characters, they're fictional characters, you're being terrible to an actual human being.

Dude, he writes so often about little girls getting raped or sexualized and has said he thinks Dany (book Dany, mind you, who's 13) is hot. It's gotten more than a little suspect at this point. That new TWOW Arya chapter was just disgusting.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-22 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
I was JUST about to talk about the new Arya chapter.

The man has a thing for little girls in noncon situations and incest (Cersei/Jaime, Targaryens, Theon/Asha, Craster), just gotta admit it.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-22 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
I'm pretty sure if the books indicated pedophilic tendencies it'd have gotten more attention from the general media and not just the tumblr crazies.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-22 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Half the GOT fanbase consists of dudebro neckbeards who get off to that shit, so lolno.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-22 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
lol mte

(Anonymous) 2014-04-22 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Lolno what? The books are worldwide best sellers you'd think the media would report on it.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-22 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
dudebro...neckbeards....those are two completely different things

(Anonymous) 2014-04-22 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
You do realize that there are way more GOT watchers than ASOIAF readers, right.

And the tumblr crazies you badmouth? Are super against the rape scene with Jaime.

Ehhh, did you watch yesterday's episode? That rape scene in there was totally consensual in the book. Same with Dany and Khal Drogo's wedding night. The show also invented that part back in the riot of season 2 where Sansa almost gets gang-raped. There are other examples too. The book series does have the threat of rape in there but the show runners fucking RAN with it and there's rarely any fucking narrative reason at all

soooo yeah, you can prefer the show if you like, but you're actually favouring the version of the story with more gratuitous rape in it

(Anonymous) 2014-04-22 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
Well, to be fair, what happens in place of Sansa nearly getting raped is Lollys actually get gangraped by 150 men in the books. And Drogo raped Dany every night after the wedding night IIRC, to the point where she was in agony and considered suicide.

Though, since Sansa never faces near rape during that riot in the books, and since Lollys doesn't exist on the show, that entire made up almost-rape scene was fucking unnecessary and gross. At least the books never get descriptive with rape (usually only mentioning it), whereas the show seems to revel in graphic sexual violence.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-22 11:29 am (UTC)(link)
The Hound did say he saved her life in that riot...

(Anonymous) 2014-04-22 11:24 am (UTC)(link)
GRRM said that if he was able to rewrite the scene, he'd make it clear that it was /not/ consensual, and that the show got it right in what he had had in mind, so...

(Anonymous) 2014-04-22 10:50 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, how do you feel about the show having Jaime rape Cersei for no reason?
