not OP, but a note to everyone going "OMG U MUST BE ONE OF THOSE HATEFUL HOMOPHOBIC STRAIGHTS"

hi, I'm bi and I keep it quiet not because of straight people but because of the fucking terrible reactions that a lot of gay people have to the existence of bi women. I've learned my lesson multiple times over that I can't ever be open about it with gay people because they'll shit all over me for my ~passing privilege~ and insult me for "just wanting attention" and "only trying to get guys to look at you" and "being barsexual" and refuse to consider dating me because "you'll just turn straight eventually like supposed bi girls always do" and act like I'm betraying lesbians by also finding men attractive. By contrast most straight people I've met, while often having weird/confused ideas about what being bi is, tend to NOT immediately become hostile and hateful to me. But those same gay/lesbian people make a huge deal about being open with THEIR orientation and about how no one should hide who they are, while being like this to be women. So the amount of "hurr durr anyone who doesn't like to hear about others' orientation must be an evil homophobis straight person" in this thread is pissing me off rn.

As a lesbian, I'm not like that. Thanks for the fucking generalizations.

I guess it's okay for me to hate straight people given the main reaction is telling me I deserve to die and shit, by this logic.

And then you come right out with a huge generalisation yourself. Wow. Point is missed by a mile.

did anyone even say that tho...??

look anon. i get the biphobia part. it's a very real problem in the queer community and im not going to deny or try to invalidate your experiences. but that... is really a sperate issue from what is being discussed here.

Same here, thought not quite as extreme as you--I don't think most people give a shit, just that the people who give a shit will be loud about it. I'm in the closet largely because the queer cool kids will think I'm lame for being open about my sexuality while having a boyfriend.
