Funny, he seems to do a lot of damage control whenever an episode he wrote for ends up being shit (ie - him claiming he didn't write Theon's scene in episode 7) and has questioned D&D's actions (saying the lack of Willas and Garland on the show will present problems for them in the future). He's also said he considers the show their own thing, separate from his books.

There's no way he's gonna openly badmouth something that's giving him loads of money and attention, but it's obvious he thinks it's an inferior product. Now enjoy your quality rapist!Jaime and Pod the Sex God bullshit, showpleb.

He writes one episode per series and acts as an advisor. If the producers decide to do something he doesn't particularly approve of, there's nothing he can do. See the current outcry over Jaime raping Cersei.
