I'm 25. Last time I went to get my birth control renewed (3-year implant), the doctor said that because of my age she was meant to do a pap smear on me as well. She deferred it that time, however, because she didn't want to do something that invasive to someone with no sexual history at all.

If you tell your doctor you're a virgin, then there is every chance they will believe you. What reason do you have to lie?

Because there's no way someone who's in their twenties is virginal. *eyes roll heavenward*

Even doctors that had known me for years constantly questioned me when I was in my twenties. The best reasoning they gave was "but you've been to college!" Oddly enough, once I passed 30, NOW they believe me.

Not to scare OP, but just.. be firm. Ask for the smallest speculum, and if they try and use a bigger one, you have every right to refuse. It is a good idea to be checked, just in case. Better discomfort than to have early stage cervical cancer go undetected, in my opinion.
