As another person who loves their SO but hates romance movies, it feels like I wrote this in my sleep, or something. I know not all of those movies are exactly the same, but I'm continuously baffled by how many of them promote things that would totally qualify as ultra-creepy stalking IRL, for example. Or yeah, overall selfish, crappy behavior and strict adherence to how men and women should be acting. I do think many mainstream rom coms give people terrible ideas about IRL relationships.

one of the things that baffles me the most is how I keep hearing people chatter on about how great and wonderful and perfectly romantic Nicholas Sparks movies are, when no, the people in those movies are always doing stupid selfish shit.
