I think my favorite is Robert E. Lee (not a fan of the Confederacy overall; he just sounds like a pretty cool person as an individual, in spite of his affiliation.) MacArthur by all accounts was an ass of staggering proportions.

Fictionally speaking, though, SG1's George Hammond is my favorite hands-down.
