Yes its like Tumblr does not realize that while some things you should bring awareness to , other things- if you want them to go away- you need to NOT GIVE ATTENTION TO.

Petition that could help people in another country? Spread that shit around! Misogynistic article written by some loser? Shut up about it because if you show it to other people it gets hits and people talking. Some things you need to starve of all attention. Unfortunately if you suggested this on tumblr you'd get someone accusing you of "silencing oppressed people" . (Silencing? No you numbskulls, I'm trying to give you advice on how to WEAKEN the "oppressor" of the week)

But, then again its Tumblr. Numerous people have made comics or posts pointing out flaws in their system and what do they always get? Tons of hate , and a bunch of people spreading it around that they're the devil incarnate.

Yesterday I saw a photoset of about how "hate will not end hate", it was well put together and had a very good and simple point that no sane person could ever disagree with. Of course, it showed up on my dash accompanied by a scree of vitriol about silencing and speaking out etc, the gist of the commentary was "if you think hate will not end hate, I hate you".

I tell myself that tumblr is full of angry little kids, though, and if they're little kids then they'll outgrow it, so there's hope for humanity yet.
And then I add a few more phrases to tumblr saviour and hunker down in the Richard II and A. J. Raffles fandoms because everywhere else is too full of babies with flamethrowers.

And I don't think they realise that every time they say "die cis scum" or use "cishet" as an insult, they are creating a gigantic mess that trans folks like me have to clean up.

I have met people, both IRL and online, who honestly think that "cis" is a slur and means something like "transphobic" or "insensitive ass" instead of "not trans" because of this sort of nonsense.

Oh yeah. and I've seen people try to tell the Tumblr people this ALL the time and they just blow it off with "baw cis tears" or some such. It's just IMO some really self-centered people causing a mess and refusing to realize it.

Oh yeah. It's like they just WANT to hate and get mad that people telling them it's counterproductive, and then they make it into a big "I'm being oppressed" thing because HEAVEN forbid someone tell them they're being a snot on the internet.

There is kind of a big difference between telling people to stay silent and not speak for themselves, and telling them to USE THEIR WORDS like adults. It's kinda sad when people are all telling them to be a grown up about it but all they get out of it is "YOU'RE TRYING TO SILENCE ME". It's like a parent trying to correct a child and the child keeps screaming "YOU HATE ME".

I sometimes feel really guilty for not getting over my fear of the camera long enough to make a video telling them that whenever they open their mouths, they're not helping anyone, in fact they're hurting the cause by turning people off to the message, souring potential allies, and giving actual (whatever)ists opportunities to say "Yeah, but those crybabies call everything (whatever)ist" and get away with actual problematic stuff. I feel like I should be the one to do it because according to their handbook, I have the Holographic First Edition Charizard of Oppression Cards and since most SJWs are white, they'd sooner chew off their own feet than contradict that.

If you do this, you will have my undying gratitude.

Edit: But they'll probably just accuse you of "internalised [whatever]ism" and continue to wreck things for the more reasonable folks.

They'd continue, sure. Nothing's going to stop them.

But you know (and I'd have to bring this up), the thing is, they're always accusing people of being things so that people go on the defensive. "But let's look at you for a minute. Why are you doing this? I think I know why. It's because deep down, you feel powerless, and that makes you angry. So you get on the internet and play Sim Save The World by yelling at people who you know won't fight back. You say to them all the things you think, you wish you could say to a real life racist, sexist, homophobe, what-have-you, but in real life, you're terrified of face-to-face confrontation. But online, you can rally your friends or go anon and talk and reblog and vent, and never have to face the reality that you have not ever helped a single oppressed person by behaving like that. You contribute nothing. You help no one. You progress nothing. You sew only hate and you reap only mistrust. You solidify us vs. them mentality. Here, try this one on- insult comic Lisa Lamponelli sent a message to the Westboro Baptist Church that for every protester that showed up to her show, she would donate one thousand dollars to Gay Men's Health Crisis. Fifty protesters showed up, resulting in fifty thousand dollars. That means that the WBC has literally done more for the rights of a minority group than you have."

((It's all up here in my head, but like I said in the comment below... I'm not proud of my cowardice, trust me, and I am working on getting past this.))

I wish I could say something to them but if they saw my face they'd dismiss me because I'm one of the dreaded "white girls". I mean I am technically disabled (autistic) but knowing them they'd just say I'm lying or self diagnosed or whatever (nope diagnosed by at LEAST three of my doctors).

It's kinda sad that on tumblr you have to have at least "X" number of oppression points to even be taken seriously.

Now that I think of it (and this is probably just an excuse I'm using because I'm too afraid to do it) maybe they'd dismiss me for not being overweight. And the whole FTM thing could go either way- it could shut them up, or they could be all "You're a guy, so shut up!" (even though I was raised and treated like a female until my last year of college and my passing rate is 6 out of 10).

Damnit, I just need to do it. Once someone does, other "oppressed" people will speak up and besides that, it'll be good for allies to see to remind them to pay no attention to the name-callers and rude, hateful people.

((Then again since we're being all honest here, I'm actually a little terrified of the follow-up work that'll go with it, because, you know, you can't just say these things and expect it to sit. I'd probably be flooded with responses. ... More excuses, more excuses.))
