And if you have an atypical relationship (my SO and I have an open relationship wherein we're both allowed to sleep with other people, but only if it's agreed upon by both of us beforehand), you might as well not exist. I spent years being unable to keep a relationship longer than a month because I had such an unrealistic idea of what a romance should consist of, because I'm actually not that clumsy, a journalist, or child-friendly.
