I just started with my old copy of Yellow. I'm at Mt. Moon now. The first badge was easy because I got lucky with the pokemon I came across. I'll just have to hope that keeps happening. Otherwise, I have a lot of patience for levelling up my pokemon so that the fights are always in my favor.

At least Misty should be easy, since you got Pikachu. Fighting Brock in a Yellow Nuzlocke would be scary if you weren't able to pick up a Nidoran or a Mankey around Viridian!

Yeah I lucked out and got a nidoran. I also ended up with a butterfree (though it started as a metapod instead of a caterpie so it was annoying to train it at first since it had no attacks).

0.0 I'd be terrified to bring a Butterfree into Brock's gym. It's 4x weak to Rock.

But Brock's pokemon don't have any rock moves so I could take advantage of Butterfree having one of the only moves that isn't not very effective against rock without worrying about its weaknesses.

Really? I thought they all knew Rock Throw. But I could be (and apparently am) totally wrong about that since it's been a long time since I've played Yellow. So yeah that definitely helps.

I'm guessing Confusion?
