I never like to break up canon couples, but without even worrying about homosexual vs heterosexual I remember thinking that Talia/Ivanova was too...depressing. I don't remember the details, but I remember thinking that she could have something fun and life-affirming with Marcus but that the thing with Talia was going nowhere happy. (maybe it was about her baggage re: telepathy? although to be fair I had a mad crush on Marcus so that likely influenced me)
