This is pretty funny,I was contemplating making the opposite secret. I don't really get turned on by written stuff as opposed to video (amateur or "amateur", because mainstream porn does happen on a scale from boring to horrendous), and I feel out of place for it in fandom.

Yes anon! The same here. Just add fanart and comics.
For me it's mostly being aroused at specific situations/kinks (nothing to do with people who are in it), somehow my mind excludes literature/pictures as sexy but includes it into "art" not porn. Same goes with none fan-made stuff.
Still, I enjoy reading porn :D .

This is true as well, thank God it is not TOO frequent in fandom, though I have seen some stories which are really... ACK. And those sometimes get tons of kudos.

Oh well. Popularity in fandom is not always a function of writing quality, I think we all know that!
