One of my very favorite shows!

So glad to see a post about this show: I love it, it's been a balm on my heart since Sherlock BBC stabbed me in the back after the 1st season... Though to be fair, Sherlock would have been great as one shot TV movie like the BBC 2004 SH and the Case of the Silk Stocking with Rupert Everett, who I think was born to play Holmes; physically he is a very close match to the Paget illustrations, IMHO.

Thank God some Russian fans have been providing English subtitles (thank you, thank you, thank you!), or I'd have missed a great SH show, better than most things one sees on TV nowadays. But they are actually movies, not TV shows as we understand them, right? Maybe it should be compared to the RDJ movies instead...

I can't really comment on the Irene Adler character treatment, though: the one episode I saw where she appeared, her character seemed minor? Which is also the case in canon, actually: the ACD canon is remarkably free of independent, intelligent women. That is one of the things I like about Irene Adler, the fact that she is NOT in love with Holmes. But most modern takes on her completely forget that.

Then again, compared with the Sherlock BBC treatment of Irene Adler, anything else looks acceptable, if not great... And I am among the people who downright LIKED the Irene Adler character in Elementary, so.

Note: I am not Russian but this show is fairly well-known among long-time Sherlock Holmes fans, like, say, people who have read ACD books. Or non-native English speakers who also have to get subtitles for the BBC version or Elementary or the RDJ movies ANYWAY. :D
