Pretty sure Marcus and Susan was a thing to the creator of the show. I read a short story he published a few years later in a magazine (one of those SF magazines, maybe out of business now, dunno), where he managed to fix things and get together future and somewhat cloned (I think? it's been awhile?) versions of them on a planet where they could live happily ever after and Marcus would always love and protect her.

It did my fangirly heart good, even though it was very wish-fulfilly. *happy sigh* I loved Marcus so much. And frankly, my family still sometimes compares me to Susan (not always favorably but not always not lol) so...yeah. I love 'em. Never into the fandom, just always remembered the show fondly. :)
