I dipped my toe into the TW/Sterek fandom and then turned tail when I saw that some of them are really *nasty*. I think they're probably just as bad as the rest of TW fandom though, because I've seen some assholeish stuff in the anti-Sterek camp, too.

Yeah both sides over there are pretty... intense. I just wanted to read some Sterek fic a little while back and I got scared off by all the general hostility, kind of reminds me of the SPN fandom back in it's hay-day(and not in a good way).

Yeah, the fandom really soured Sterek for me (calls of homophobia because Sterek hasn't become canon! Scott bashing! Tyler Posey bashing! Allison bashing! BASHING!) and I ended up falling in love with Scott and all of his ships. BUT the Scott side of fandom is filled with SJWs who are constantly saying that people hate Scott because he's a POC. And I mean, I side-eye people who hate Scott just as much as the next person, but I don't automatically assume RACIST.

It's not enough to pull me off the Scott Mcloving train but goddamn, this fandom is a mess.

TW fandom is surprisingly wanky and not in the fun way. (You're right, it isn't even just Sterek fans, because I've seen perfectly nice Sterek fans. I ship it too, but it's probably best to stay off the tumblr tags. There's always some drama, whether it's from Sterek fans or anti-Sterek fans.)

Sadly, that tends to happen with bigger fandoms/pairings/whatever. (I can't think of a massive fandom that doesn't have a shitton of wank in it.)

Yeah. They're just all around crazy and wanky. The only thing I have do to with TW fandom is Allydia.
