I always have a hard time with complaints about long hair because mine has never given me much trouble. I've had long hair my whole life and I did ballet for 12 years before I had to quit. I usually pulled my hair back just in a ponytail which a lot of people are saying would be a problem and sometimes I had it completely free. I've gotten used to the way it responds to different movements and compensating for that is just an unconscious habit at this point.

I don't know if I'm weird or underestimating how much trouble my hair really causes me or if this is one of those "people are different but you wouldn't know that from how everyone is talking" things.

I'm inclined to think I'm wrong because that's how my brain works so if I was in a fight I would probably put my hair in a bun since everyone seems to be so sure about this. Oh wait, I can't fight.

Nah, some people really adapt to knowing where their hair is, like you have. And some are lucky and have hair that's more inclined to stay put, because it's heavier or that's just the way it behaves.

Personally, I have straight, fine hip-length hair that's kind of light and sometimes it's like an octopus on my head when it's loose. Lots of legs, and I don't always know where they are.

Yeah, when my hair was longer I never had problems with it getting in the way either. Maybe because it was curly, but it always stayed put when it was down.

Naturally curly hair really doesn't have all that much movement to it, especially if you add in any amount of hair product.

I think a lot of people in this thread are thinking about straight, heat-curled hollywood hair which is all wavy and bouncy and soft.

Also, there's a big difference between fine hair and thick hair. My friend has long hair that's really thick and hers barely moves at all.

Mine doesn't give me problems either. Granted I don't fight so I'm not sure how my hair would react in that situation but I do exercise and other activities with my hair loose without problems. I actually hate the feel of my hair being anything but loose so if I were an action female character I would want it loose on purpose or else it's going to be distracting.
