You see that would have made sense - and while it wouldn't have saved the movie (there was so many other things wrong with the film) but it could have made it more interesting. But noooooo they wanted to have their own version of the "Kahn" scene - which worked in the original because it was Kirk yelling it - and at least part of the reason Kirk did it was so Kahn would think Kirk really thought he would be stuck in the Genesis cave for a long, long time.

Like others I don't really blame Cumberbatch. He did the best he could with some really lousy writing...
