they're filmed in such a way that it's like they expect the audience to ooh and ahh over how bee-YOO-ti-ful mutilated dead ladies are.

I don't disagree, but to be fair to Fuller, that's something he has at least thought about and tries to be gender neutral on. He's gone on record as saying that he wants to avoid "stabby rapey" murders because he thinks the gender politics are gross, and some of the more visually striking corpse displays have been either male (the human cello, the man with the tree growing from his chest) or both male and female (the angels, the totem pole, the eye). But for sure opening the show with those fetishistic images of women impaled on stag horns did it no favors.
