People with Anxiety/Insomnia

(Anonymous) 2014-04-30 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
I stumbled upon something called ASMR, which is the sort of unofficial (it hasn't been scientifically studied yet) term for the pleasant scalp tingling sensation you get from certain sounds or actions (ex:Having your hair touched, keyboard typing, quiet whispers or clacking) Apparently people with 'ASMR' and anxiety/panic attacks/insomnia have claimed that it helps calm them down and help them sleep. I thought I'd bring this to anyone's attention who has these issues and were looking for ways to help themselves.

I've listened to ASMR, but it always just sets me on edge. All those sibilant whispers and package-crinkling!

It helps me. I used to have really bad insomnia and it was the simple noises that my roommates made like the ones you mentioned that helped when nothing else would.
