I do not defend them. I think they are looking at things the wrong way. However, I would like to try to understand them. I think there's something of value there, even though I think they are wrong.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-30 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)As for people going apeshit about how much more awesome she is than the other characters (mind you, I wasn't fond of Aslaug), they should calm down. That's why I really appreciate the fact that the show portrays the kind of relationship that Aslaug and Lagertha have---they're not bffs, but they certainly aren't mortal enemies. They have a mutual respect, and I feel that (esp. if you saw last week's episode) both characters recognize what's great about the other (i.e. Lagertha saw Aslaug's wit and beauty, she didn't fight her over Ragnar, she moved on; Aslaug understands that Lagertha's strength as a woman and in battle make her a role model to the local girls). Women should stand together, not rip each other apart over who's better, who gets the guy, etc. etc. etc.
