That's what I figured. He does have fans, but IME some realize that he's terrible and the rest don't get taken seriously.

I'm assuming it's him too, even though I think he's far from universally hated, either in universe or out, just because a lot of people THINK he's universally reviled.

I mean, boy's got some serious fans (myself included; I adore fictional sociopathic assholes like him so much), but also, he's got a few people who do like him in-canon post his fucking up: Jake English (who likes him as part of Erisolsprite, but still), Vriska (who reminisces about him fondly enough and wishes he were a part of her ghost army... the "real" Eridan, anyway), Feferi (who, as a part of Fefetasprite, seems on track to forgiving him), and Karkat (who has a whole memo to himself on the asteroid where he talks about missing his dead friends... especially the assholes... while having flashbacks about taking the Mayor to Eridan's angel land to have him healed by a dead Feferi in a dream bubble).

But still. Lots of people are convinced he's universally loathed, in universe and out, even amongst his fans.
