Don't care, I still like it (and I was well aware of the actual story before it was made.) Beautiful animation, gorgeous music, amusingly macabre villain with an adorable minion, and I think the movie made it very obvious that the revolution was a horrible time even if they didn't go into the actual politics.

Anastasia's whole family died, for crying out loud--the centerpiece song of the film drove home her loss beautifully and painfully. And though it wasn't Disney, it was certainly no worse than Pocahantas or Mulan (or The Little Mermaid, if you want to step outside actual historical figures) for tacking on a cheesy happy ending.
