I feel EXACTLY the same. I am horrified that they made some fluffy, fantasy-laden children's cartoon out of the slaughter of a family and their servants (and dog) in the middle of the night. They bayoneted these children, for God's sake. They poured acid over their corpses. And then hacked up their bodies and threw them in a pit. Their relatives are still alive who remember these kids. Cutesy bats doesn't begin to make up for how tactless this movie is.

I actually adopted one of my cats around this time. I have always been fascinated by the Russian imperial family and I'd originally intended to name her Anastasia. But I decided I didn't want a lot of people cooing "oh, did you name her after the cartoon?" so I named her Tatiana instead (after the second oldest of the Tsar's daughters).
