I will admit that the funny panel from Demon Knights (with Eitrigan's "wooing" of Madame Xanadu) that [personal profile] insanenoodlyguy posted like a year ago made me curious enough to try the comic (which I wound up loving).

Thank you to whoever posted that secret about G'Kar inspiring them to be a better person because it got me to watch Babylon 5 and that show is like the only thing keeping me relatively sane right now. Okay ... sane-ish.

Someone posted a secret about Unsounded, I went on an archive spree, and now I'm completely hooked on the story. Thanks, secret OP!

(For anyone curious, it's a fantasy comics and it's awesome: http://www.casualvillain.com/Unsounded/)

Yep, this happened for me too. I remember reading Unsounded a long time ago and not getting so into it for whatever reason, but when I saw the secret I decided to give it another shot, and I'm so glad I did! Thanks OP!

All the secrets about "skipping the weather" got me listening to Welcome to Night Vale. I love it, and I love the weather segments.
pantswarrior: Kotetsu is on a tiger. That is all. (sexay)

I always have to tell the story, when people ask about Tiger & Bunny, of the day I saw a secret here for it after hearing a couple friends talk about it. They seemed to think it was pretty good, but I hadn't really cared about an anime series since Get Backers ended in 2004, so I hadn't bothered checking it out.

Then this secret came along and I don't remember what the secret even said, but it was over a screencap which showed a guy cowering behind a pink stuffed bunny, holding it up for protection, as he was facing a bunch of people dressed in black outfits, holding guns... which had apparently just fired little banners reading "HAPPY BIRTHDAY".

That was so utterly bizarre that I *had* to go watch the show just to see wtf was going on. :D

(That's also sort of how I got into Get Backers, though not FS-related. A friend was talking about how much she liked it and I was like "eh whatever" until she said something like "This is the kind of show where two characters are having a deep meaningful conversation about life and death and destiny, and the two main characters are in the background fighting over pizza." And I went "...Okay, you win. Where does one download fansubs?")

Does that mean you liked T&B?
pantswarrior: Kotetsu smiles, because everything's going to be fine. (kotetsu)

Ohhhhhh yes. Literally the first and only anime I have been a "fan" of in close to ten years. Halfway through the first episode I had already figured out that the main character is basically MADE OF ALL MY FAVORITE CHARACTER TROPES. Even the beard! And although the show overall is pretty much constructed of what seems at first like predictable tropes, they play with them, exaggerating them or turning them on their heads over the course of the story, so it seems to especially appeal to fans who have been around fandom for awhile and know how things are "supposed to" go.

Also it's overwhelmingly silly at times - and then in a split second can swing back to tragic and make you go "hahahahOHSHI-" And I would have appreciated just the silly alone, but the fact it can do both makes it even better. =) The ending felt like a little of a cop-out to be honest, but I suspect they may have realized partway through that it had gained a larger (and different) audience than they expected, and that there was potential to take the franchise further than 26 episodes.

The "live action Kuroko" secret got me watching Kuroko's Basketball. It was a really fun show, too.

Years ago someone posted a secret about Bones and True Blood stating (s)he wouldn't watch either show because "Sookie and Temperance are the stupidest names ever". I was quite amused, and I'm not entirely sure why. I also thought it was an acceptable reason (even though I watch Bones).

A Starsky & Hutch secret (the "I just realized I've been mixing these guys up" one) a month or so ago got me to rewatch a good chunk of that show, which I loved but hadn't rewatched or been involved in for years. Thanks! It was definitely the exact sort of thing I really needed in my life right now :)

A Parasol Protectorate secret a while back and more recently the Man from U.N.C.L.E. secret about all the cool female characters.
