The problem isn't that it's a rape fantasy--the problem it's that it's a rape fantasy that the author refuses to acknowledge is a rape fantasy. The book has NOT been marketed with the idea that It's Only Fantasy, Do Not Try This At Home. It's been marketed with the idea that this is the ideal relationship that every woman secretly wants in real life. Do I even need to explain why this is an awful idea?

I don't like the books, but I don't think it was marketed that way. It's popularity made a lot of people assume that later, because of the fact that it became popular.

I have never heard of those books being marketed that way. I don't follow them, granted, but I'm skeptical of this accusation.
