Re: Fan interpretations of characters you don't agree with

"Movieverse!Loki was not abused and he was treated equally to Thor by both parents right up until the moment he turned evil. I hate abusive!Odin and bad brother!Thor interpretations."

I agree, partially though. I don't doubt that they were both treated fairly by Odin, and it seemed as if Loki and Thor were good brothers to each other, but I don't think that Odin was not without preference. I get the feeling that Thor was Odin's favorite and Loki was Frigga's favorite. It happens in a lot of families, the oldest one/preferred one usually the point of comparison, and oft times, the other sibling may feel like they can't do enough to please the parent they don't get preferred treatment from.
Again, this doesn't mean I think Thor was an asshole to Loki nor that Odin gave no shits about Loki, I just think Loki never got the same approval, looks of admiration, "pat on the back", that Thor did, and that might have been what he wanted. I wish Frigga's love would have been enough.

Excuse the ramble, I just think it's an interesting topic.

I was going to say just that. I don't read the comics, but the movies strongly imply a non-abusive but distinct favoritism with Odin preferring Thor and Frigga preferring Loki. And while I'm not on board with the whole poor, abused, Woobie-Loki interpretation, watching the extra feature "A Brother's Journey" (or w/e it was called) on the Dark World BluRay told me that Marvel is banking on the vulnerability that Hiddleston brings to Loki's character and are not above playing it up.

My thoughts on Loki' and Thor's childhood is pretty similar, especially in light of Loki not being Odin's biological son. I also think that Thor and Loki had different needs that got treated with a bit of a blanket approach, at least by Odin. I think Frigga was probably better about giving each son what he individually needed. Children, especially clever ones, pick up on that stuff.

Where I think Odin really screwed up was in not telling Loki he was an adopted frost giant. Every adopted person I've known has said they were happier knowing, and would probably have flipped out discovering it as an adult.
