Haha, I totally get what you mean, OP. To me, Game of Thrones feels like a cheap AU of Shakespeare's History Plays, and I'm watching it only because it's fun to sort out which GoT character maps to which Shakespeare character. Once that gets old, I'll drop the show like the ton of boring bricks it is.

And I tried to read the books once, but the shoddy writing put me off before I managed to drag myself through the first chapter.
