Here is the thing, most of those games you are talking about are for an American audience so of course America is not going to be the bad guy.

So why Nazis? Well for one, no one is going to be writing articles about how this video game is stereotyping/murdering [non-white people/country]. The second thing is that Nazis are ICONIC. The swastika, the uniforms, the goose step march. They are perfect looking villains. Which is also why they are used as a inspiration for fake bad guys.

+1. No one - until OP's secret, I guess - is going to write to Hollywood studios and say "stop making the Nazis villains", because it's pretty much universally acknowledged that the Nazis WERE villains.

Also, Germany today =/= Nazis.

Yeah, I'm a bit shocked that anyone in a recent German generation feels a we towards Nazi Germany rather than a they.

I personally hate most fictional nazis as well - but not because it's "my country," but because it seems somehow disrespectful to the many actual victims who still live and the families of those who died.

I don't really like Nazi/Nazi type villains in fiction because they are used so much they are stock villains at this point. Hey, these guys are bad! Know why? Cuz they're Nazis!
