Even Book!Jaimie had standards.

I thought I read somewhere that that scene was supposed to be consensual and the director just effed it up.

The scene in the book came of as sexual assualt at first and then she gave in/wanted it to me. Which was skeevy.

It's been a while since I read the books and I don't have them with me, but I was under the impression that Cersei always wanted her brother. Far more than he wanted her.

Really? I always got the opposite vibe, that Cersei sort of kept Jaime around and used him, but Jaime was super crazy in love with her.

Didn't he start distancing himself from her? And she kept writing to him while she was aboard the crazy train?

He did it because one he returned, handless and ruined, she started despising him. And then he learned that she had been cheating on him for years,

I need to re-read the books.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-02 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but that was after she had a bunch (A BUNCH) of affairs, and waxed poetic to herself about how he was such a dweeb and she could have done so much better if she were a man. And after he started trying to be not such a terrible person/got emotionally invested in Brienne.

I feel like her letters were less because she was in love with him and more because she sees him as an extension of herself, and wants him to die when she does.

Its skeevy, but the characters are skeevy; its in character. The problem is that the show made it worse.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-02 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I don't disagree with that. It just strikes me as odd as people hold up that scene as being so much better when it was dubious consent at best imo.

The director totally fucked it up.
