I don't care what it is as long as they don't take a male character's name and add an 'a'. No, Dereka for Derek is not a good name. TRY AGAIN.

Derek to Dereka is bad, but if you lost the D and swapped the second e for an i then you'd have Erika, which is good.

The only one it works for is Deanna for Dean. Because that is actually canon.

I'm often relatively tolerant of add-an-a, but because "Deanna" is canon, "Deana" drives me nuts.

Yeah, and Deanna is an actual name. WHF is Deana, deen-a, dee-ann-a (like Deanna) or dee-ah-na (like Diana in Spanish)?

I've actually known someone named Deana, so it's not *completely* out there, at least for me. It's pronounced exactly like it's spelled, Dean-uh.

I've run across that as a name but always spelled Dina, rhymes with Tina. Like Dina Meyer from Birds of Prey. And Dina's will no doubt have multiple stories how they're not Dinah's, Diane's, etc.

I prefer the spelling "Devin" for a lady name. Actually a friend and I came up with that for the name "Dave" - there doesn't seem to be a lot for that.

Yeah. Alexander to Alexandra, Eric to Erica, fine. Some names just sound ridiculous though (someone mentioned Sherlocka above).

Generally surnames used as first names, which Sherlock would be an example of, do not have feminized versions. I would just pick a slightly similar sounding female name, if there was one.

In all fairness, I once met a Derica/Dereka/Dereca (i can't remember how to spell it).
