But... USA media does depict other countries as the bad guys.

Russia and China are still used as villains pretty often, even if not as much as before.
The Middle East conflict is a frame used in a lot of recent media, as well as Mexican cartels and there's some media that also depicts the USA government as evil and corrupt.

Hell, in CA:tWS they even decided to mention the ELN (which was weird, since it sounded as they were making a badly done reference to the Palace of Justice siege) and HYDRA, which started as Nazi related, ended having many American members.

The US media even uses its own government as evil bad guys. How many movies out there where someone comes uncovers a secret organization in the US government that has been used to carry out covert assassinations and or torture sessions on people. Or where someone in the government has turned evil and tries to kill the president in attempt to gain power? Or at least get close to the president by lying and murdering left and right. (Hello, White House Down, House of Cards, Revolution and Scandal)

The US media does not shy away from mocking Americans and the US government any more than it negatively portrays people of other nations.
