Ha! That reminds me of the time one of my friends went to a conference in the US (this was during the election when Palin was on the VP ticket). He was talking to someone there who, when he heard my friend was from Canada, said that "one of your people is running in the election."

So, (1) we own Alaska (yay!), (2) we own Sarah Palin (boo!), and (3) I thought only Americans could run for President & presumably Vice-President, but apparently this guy thought Canadians could run in US elections.

I worked in a Cdn call centre but it was run by an American company and we were on a contract for Sprint (which is not available in Canada). Anyhow, it was amazing the number of American customers who could NOT comprehend that yes, you incur international roaming charges if you use your Sprint cell phone in Canada. I guess it's only international if it's oversea? (Do you all think Mexico is part of the US too?)

No. Mexico is where the Poor Lazy Brown People who Take Our Jobs and Steal Our Tax Dollars come from.

(Seriously, it's awful racist and classist bullshit. And people like to try and cover for that by saying, "I just think people shouldn't emigrate here illegally, that's all!" Oh really? Well, then where's your outrage over East Asian and European illegal immigrants, fucko?)
