Re: Things you take offense to even though you know it's dumb

The term "manpain" I hate it so much. And I *get* the phenomenon it's addressing, but there's got to be a better way to address that without inadvertently (in some cases advertently) trivializing the idea that men feel grief and pain, too.

THIS.

Yes, because men are so often trivialized in society. It's going to take more than one word to convince me of how bad you have it, dude.

Oh shut the fuck up. You are obviously part of the problem.

Uh, actually, I'm a girl. It's just that in addition to a sister and a mother and all my female friends, I also have a brother and a father and a bunch of male friends whose feelings are just as valid and shouldn't be trivialized.

How dare guys have problems, don't they realize that being male magically removes all possibility that they could ever not live a perfect life in all ways?

Go fuck yourself on a really sharp stick SJ Troll/Radfem. It's obvious with comments like that, no real person would have you.

Now what did sharp sticks ever do to you to merit such a punishment?

I tend to automatically differentiate between "pain" and "manpain". Somebody says something "that dude's pain is so awful", I know it doesn't mean the same thing as "lol manpain".

The problem is that there are a lot of people who will immediately label any sort of grief or pain shown by a male character as "manpain" even when it is completely legitimate.

True, but those are people who don't want to take anything about men seriously to begin with, and the term "manpain" isn't the cause of that serious issue of theirs. Though, no, I don't appreciate how they take the legitimacy out of the term by overusing it.
