I'm a little tired of hearing/reading curly hair described as "wild", "unruly", "crazy", etc. Or the idea that curly/big hair means you're a hippie or a "free spirit" or being intentionally nonconformist or something. As if a curly-haired person is actually just a straight-haired person who's too lazy to use a brush.

I really think that deep down, people with straight hair don't fully understand that curly/big/hard-to-manage hair grows that way. It's not an intentional hairstyle that I did on purpose. I didn't do anything to make this happen. It grows this way; it doesn't mean I'm a Manic Pixie Dreamgirl who's trying to be different, or something.

But yeah, just the trope of curly hair = eccentric, flaky, neurotic, etc.
