In my case it's not an old fandom, but I've been around fandom in general for over ten years too, and it's the first time I have come across a juggernaut pairing I truly hate.

It's the first time I've ever felt that way, especially for such a popular pairing. Namely, Coulson/Hawkeye in the Avengers movie fandom. Somehow I can enjoy any other pairing in this fandom, including het which I usually don't care for (eg, Pepper Potts/Tony Stark or Black Widow/Hawkeye, FTW) and pairings I really cannot see myself (Iron Man/Captain America or Bruce Banner/Tony Stark or Tony Stark/Loki or any combination thereof - it's a toss-up whether Loki or Tony Stark is the little black dress of this fandom, it's truly hilarious!) but Coulson/Hawkeye gives me hives and I have to filter all such fics, which is really too bad because it's such a popular pairing that most stories focused on other pairings overwhelmingly feature a background or past Coulson/Clint Barton relationship. Which, ew.

I don't mean to offend Coulson/Barton fans, it's just that tastes differ... :(
