Speaking as someone who went through the whole "falling for your (straight) best friend" thing at 16 (though sadly enough we never fake dated), I fucking LOVE this show. People can whine about how problematic it is all day long, I would've killed to have a show like that and a character like Amy to project on when I was a confused teenager. (I ended up projecting on John Paul/Craig from Hollyoaks instead, which in retrospect was probably not the healthiest option.)

IIRC one of the creators is gay and has pretty much said that the show is a gay teenager's wish fulfillment, and it shows, and I love it.
