There's a new kink meme in my fandom... that baffles me.

Rules:
IP logging is on so the moderator can track people but no-one can track the kink meme. Only two prompts per IP and per day are allowed. Nothing illegal allowed, no details given. All comments will be automatically screened. The moderator will unscreen the prompts they consider OK.

Am I the only one to find it weird as fuck?

Seems kind of strict - and kind of like they don't actually want anyone to participate with the whole screening thing - but hey, it's their funeral.

Yeah, that's really weird. I can understand putting stricter rules on if the meme became flooded with spam/hate/etc. but setting up a kink meme with such rules from the outset seems counterproductive to me.

I don't participate in a lot of kink memes, but that sounds really odd. Sounds like the mod is on a power trip -- I mean, only unscreening prompts they consider to be okay? WTF.

No that is definitely weird as fuck and I would not participate at all. Has anyone complained or brought up that it's really weird? But I guess if they're screening comments if anyone complained it might never see the light of day.

Yeah, that seems weird. The "nothing illegal" is theoretically workable if your fandom's characters are exclusively over 18, but messy regardless (high school AUs and smut are mutually exclusive, by that standard); the IP-logging and prompt limit are just weird as fuck. If there's another kink meme for your fandom, I'd advise dropping this one like a hot potato.

Huh... I can sort of understand their desire to limit prompts, since there are so many kink memes out there with idk, 100 prompts to every 3 fills, and it'd be nice to go "hey people. if you want to participate beyond two prompts a day, go start filling some others out."

But all the other stuff is bizarre.

I think some might to ward off trolls and it's kind of understandable imo. But yeah, I know plenty more who do get a lot of trouble but don't worry too much about it, they just delete comments of people spamming to get their prompt more attention.

Yeah, I've known a lot of paranoid people who would flat out refuse to go to a kink meme that left IP logging on. Some of the ones I've been have accidentally left IP logging on when the meme was created and they usually got a few comments asking if it could be turned off before people started prompting

Why can no one track the kink meme? Half the users on your average meme only participate by tracking. o.O And the automatic screening is...wtf? And given the nearly inherently international nature of fandom, "not illegal" doesn't even make any sense because even within a country, legal in one area is perfectly fine in another one - forget different laws between entire countries!

I can get why someone would want to limit the amount of prompts on a meme, but combined it all the other stuff, it seems less about managing a good prompt-to-fill ratio and more about the mod's powertrip.
