Every decent person is a feminist and I'm sure a lot of decent people enjoy these shows. You can still enjoy something while acknowledging its problems ... or I can, rather.

OK, let me also use this space to spew more Sherlock hate since that is something I enjoy: the dealbreaking scene for me was the one where ...

Irene: I'm such a lesbian, oh but how I adore this Sherlock.
Watson: I know right, I'm so straight and yet this insufferable twat makes me feel feelings.
Both: Oh, Sherlock, you highly functioning sociopath, you.

Things like this aren't problematic as much as they're just plain stupid.

Yeah, that's just plain bad writing. You don't need to write a fourteen page essay on misogyny to under tell anyone that.

The Blind Banker, anyone?

Because you have to be blind not to see the racism and misogyny in that episode.

If I wanted to watch Sherlock Holmes with Victorian values, I'd watch Jeremy Brett, and even that show treated Irene Adler better.

Meh. The dealbreaker for me was, not only did Irene live (she's supposed to die, okay), Sherlock was literally her Knight in Shining Hijab to do this. So. Yeah. Rock on with the BBC Sherlock hate!

Always Sherlock hate. Always.

For me the dealbreaking started at "high-functioning sociopath" because fuck that in every way, and was definitively sealed when Irene Adler became a "dominatrix" in a manner that proves nobody on that writing staff has ever seen or heard of a dominatrix outside of a cartoon or a cheap porno. The fact that she lost to Sherlock because her delicate squishy ladyfeelings got in the way of Ultimate Manly Man-Logic For Men Only was just another thousand nails in the coffin. Way to miss the entire point of her story, Mofftiss. who's bitter i'm totally not still bitter

Yeah, I lost it at the very beginning at the sociopath too. Who would want to be a sociopath, a fucking robot without empathy. which is what makes people human. And what especially got me was a guy I know irl quoting it as this great thing - there's nothing admirable or emulation-worthy about that, for fuck's sake. It's almost like some fans of Sherlock look up to Sherlock as being this naturally insuffwrable arsehole who arseholes through his super interesting life being a special arsehole snowflake and ... I'll stop here ;)

And Irene was a waste of a character.
