And to the above anon? I know that's what at least one of the dictionaries say, but the only people in real life who use the word in those terms are those who self-identify as feminists proudly and get annoyed when people say they're not. Then they claim you're not a feminist the instant you use the word 'bitch', no matter what the context.

Feminism isn't just believing that women are human, it's believing that only those who subscribe to a whole set of other beliefs, which differ from strain to strain of the movement, can be said to believe that women are human. I would not say I disagree with everything that every strain of feminism believes in, but I would no sooner call myself a feminist than I'd call myself a Christian for believing in the goodness of charity and forgiveness.
