Ugh, “But I knew him” will be the death of me. Stop making my heart ache, Sebastian Stan. Stop ruining my life.

He was so childlike and hopeful and needed THIS ONE THING and Pierce took it away from him. If only we could kill Pierce again. (Or at least make sure the bastard is dead.)

(Exactly! The two most important people in his life didn't know who he was, and his bff, the person who knew him best actively turned against him. Even though Bucky had no say in it, that had to be the most horrible, soul crushing experience.)

Captain America: ruining your hopes and dreams for ever achieving true happiness.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who came out that film with so many...feelings.

I thought I was prepared. I read the comic, I read tons of fanfic dealing with Bucky's return, I read the wiki...

I could never prepare for Sebastian Stan's puppy dog eyes and distress, nor Chris Evans adoration or depression.

Basically I'm saying that movie was impossible.

I knew zero about it.

I read a lot of the X-titles, but never Captain America (or Thor for that matter) - but hey, I like superhero movies in general.

I was already pretty upset about Bucky "dying" in the last film, because I really liked him (and hey, to be shallow, he's actually so much more my type than Cap).

So, I basically went in unspoiled. Somany feelings. Those facial expressions killed me. Also, just so much more love nd respect for Steve now (a character I was mostly indifferent to). So, well one Marvel. I think I'll need o read the comics now. And consume a shitton of fanfic/fan art. And accept being a little in love with Bucky...

I know a lot of people didn't think much of Bucky in First Avenger, but he (And his relationship with Steve) was one of my favorite parts of the film. And I really liked the film. Stan might not have had a ton of screentime but he did a great job of making Bucky fun and compassionate and memorable. I remember first seeing the film, not realizing Bucky lived and being so upset. Then I went home and researched him and saw he came back as Winter Soldier and breathed a sigh of relief. I'm so glad they brought Stan back for two instead of sitting on that story for longer.

I almost wish I hadn't known about Bucky simply because the reveal would've been AMAZING. One of the reasons I was so excited to see the film was to see how people reacted to the reveal, lol. I'm sad I haven't got to go again.

I've loved Steve since the beginning but I do think this film did a better job of making him a more interesting and well rounded character. It did that with everyone, really.

You should at least read the Winter soldier arc! It was really good. There's so much good fanfic too, I can barely keep up with it. Now is a good time to be a Cap (And Bucky) fan.

For the reveal for me: it was shocking, but then on some level, it wasn't surprising, I mean it totally made sense to me - if you get it?

>You should at least read the Winter soldier arc!

Any idea what the best issues(or bundles) are to get that. Don't want to wade through decades of Captain America comics.

Yea, I do. Even though it's a bit out there it's certainly conceivable for a comic book movie, plus there was no other person you could bring back that would have that kind of effect on Steve.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0785143416?pc_redir=1399652926&robot_redir=1 this is the beginning, I think but I also think there's another two or three volumes after that.

Bucky was prettty gut-wrenching in the first movie. When everyone else is sitting around the bar celebrating their victory after Steve broke everyone out of the Hydra base, Bucky's just kind of sitting in the corner with this look on his face... he'd seen some shit, man. I seriously thought he was going to turn down being part of the Howling Commandos at first. I wanted to hug him so bad. D:

I have so many feelings about Bucky.

It seems EVERYONE has feelings about Bucky. I approve of this so hard; both Bucky himself and Sebastian deserve recognition!

And I of course agree; Bucky went through hell in First Avenger. He wasn't the same guy after he went off to war (even more so I imagine after he had been experimented on by Zola). Through it all he stuck by Steve, though. The fact he had Steve's back and went back into the fight just so he could be by his side is beautiful and amazing. Even though Steve was perfectly capable of taking take of himself, he wouldn't leave his buddy.

Ugh, Bucky Barnes...
riddian: (Bucky likes this)

icon buddies! *high five*

[personal profile] riddian 2014-05-12 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)
If people don't have feelings about Bucky then they are wrong! Wrong, I tell you!

Bucky is absolutely heartbreaking. He still wanted to protect Steve, cuz that's what he does, even if Steve is the one doing most of the protecting now... and then in Winter Soldier his memories of Steve are strong enough to break through the Winter Soldier's programming, only to have them taken away yet again. He just can't catch a break. ;__;

I don't understand people without feelings about Bucky. Especially if they actually dislike him... I just don't get how it's possible. Oh, Bucky baby...

Ugh, it's painful thinking about all the shit he's went through. He went through enough shit during the war, he deserved a rest. Instead he gets brainwashed and used against the country he's given up so much for and against the person who meant most to him. Bucky is going to have do many issues, and you can't even blame the poor guy. I just hope he gets the help he needs and he and Steve can be bff's again and support each other. I just want them to be happy.

Damn you Marvel!

Especially if they actually dislike him

I refuse to believe such people actually exist. D: How can anybody not fall for Sebastian Stan when he does those eyes?

The next movie should just be a bunch of therapy and hugs and Disney movie marathons. Of course it'll probably tear my heart to pieces instead, so I've been trying to fill the gap with fanfiction. Bless this fandom for being so prolific with Bucky fic.
