Conservative: "You shouldn't have premarital sex! You shouldn't use birth control! You can't have sex with someone of the same sex! My bible says all these things are wrong!"

Liberal: "It's totally fine to have sex with whoever you want under whatever circumstances you want, as long as you're having sex with someone. If you're not interested in it there's something wrong with you! You NEED to have sex whether you want to or not."

The latter bothers me just as much as the former.

Seriously. As someone who's never had sex and has no interest in it (and is as liberal as hell) and is quite vocal and honest about my lack of interest, I've NEVER had ANYONE tell me I need to be having sex.

I was going to be more polite, but yeah... that pretty much sums up my feelings about that video too. XD

Oh I know, it's just something I see a lot with people I know. They think their view is genuinely better than the conservative viewpoint when to me it seems to be basically the same thing, and it really annoys me.

They seem to focus on the sex aspect which seems to be missing the point anyway since apparently the issue is about people having kids, which isn't necessarily going to happen even if they have more sex (birth control is a thing that exists!).

Did you mean to post this to someone else? Those are things I've genuinely seen people (who call themselves liberals) say. You can watch the linked video for an example.

Yeah, that's not anything like a mainstream liberal position. The liberal position would be more like: "Any sex that takes place within the context of informed, enthusiastic, non-coercive consent is totally okay. No consent = no sex, though." So if you don't want to have sex, you're not consenting, obvs. I don't know where you get the notion that liberals think sex is mandatory for everyone.

Your friends may identify as political liberals, but they're being illiberal when it comes to policing other people's sexuality. It happens!
