YES! I agree with everything you said, race is a big thing for me as well - with GoT, it bothers me almost more than the gender. I still watch most of the shows I mentioned, but it comes with a bad feeling to my gut afterwards that I can't quite shake away.

And bringing it up makes it even worse - at my old work it was me and 6 completely GoT-obsessed guys, and whenever we discussed it I always got onto the race/feminist card and they were polite about it but I could sense the "oh here she goes again", and it's like, I'm not trying to ruin the show for you, I just want you to be aware of these issues.

I come from Sweden (though my job was in Amsterdam), and for all credit Sweden gets for being feminist and forward (like, all movies in Sweden now gets a stamp whenever or not they passed Bechdel's test), there's actually no public information at all about it. They don't teach you how important this is anywhere. It's crazy.

Sorry for ranting I feel a lot about this.
