Re: Controversial opinions

nothing will convince me that most of the "autistic" kids I meet aren't just undisciplined assholes.

I can understand that, especially as someone who's received an actual autistic spectrum disorder diagnosis from a team of psychologists. I worry that there's a huge increase in self or parental diagnosis of autism, and it's really apparent online. That said, how would you feel if you met someone who was professionally diagnosed and went through years of cognitive therapy to get at least some sort of discipline in their lives? I get that autism is no excuse to be an asshole. I also know from personal experience that it takes a lot of work to temper that, and setbacks can happen.

Don't worry about it, I've been seeing people claim Oppositional Defiant Disorder a more recently. I'm guessing autism/aspergers is out of fashion, just like ADHD before it, as the go-to (self)diagnosis for being an asshole. Claiming autism was always a lifestyle choice for some folks, and now they are moving on and leaving those with a real diagnosis and disorder a toxic legacy because of the lifestyle autistics.
