Drugging a injured, abused to the point of insanity young woman for the purpose of either artificially inseminating her against her will, or harvesting some of her ovum in order to grow some babies in a lab, or both, I'm not sure yet.

(This show ... in the same way you can almost forget that Maslany is playing all the clones, I just want to help Helena somehow ( even as I realize at the back of my mind that she's a horrifyingly literal symbol of the attacks on a woman's right to say what does or does happen to her body.)

Oh god, that was so uncomfortable to watch. Helena. ;_;

I think they removed ovum and inseminated it in a petri dish (and now they're going to implant it in someone else, I think?). It's kind of awful how that seems like the best possible thing that could've happened in that scenario. The show really doesn't pull any punches, does it?

Yepp, I agree. The current arc with Helena has been incredibly unsettling, and total nightmare fuel. I'm really glad they didn't go with a rape plot though, which I was afraid they were going to do.

The livestock insemination scene in the previous episode was fairly foreshadowy, imo. For all H's reprimand of his daughter calling Helena an "it" and saying she was part of the family, I didn't think he'd actually have intercourse with her.

Yeah, I agree with you, I didn't mean to imply that I thought it was obvious they were going with a rape plot. But I do think the whole 'marriage', and the carrying her bridal style to the bed had undertones of rape (which I guess served as a metaphor to the procedure of removing her ovum, and whatever else it was they did, which was a very invasive act on her body and done without any of her consent.) I'm just glad they didn't actually go in that direction.

Yeah, penis or pipette, as you said it's still an invasion of her body under dubious consent.

(I haven't actually watched that ep yet, but I was already spoiled from accidentally seeing a review. :p)
