It makes me angry and sad that this is even a tiny bit controversial. NB: in my state, some public and private schools still use "paddling" as a discipline, which as far as I'm concerned is sexual as well as physical abuse.

I can't tell if you're agreeing with ayrt, but yes, sexual. I absolutely see where they are coming from with that.

I wouldn't want to lump it with other forms of sexual abuse, personally - but I do think the butt area is a private area, comparable to genital or breast area, and smacking it is inappropriate within the realm of "sexual". Especially if pants are down.
